10 ways to be a better person

Some really good points here. I was especially interested by her comment that perhaps we should be teaching this in school. I do think there is something there. Not sure how that would look, but I do agree it would serve students well to master these 10 things.

  1. First off, I love her name. Its is a very beautiful name. Second, I loved her 10 points. My two favorite were #9, listening... and the other one where she talked about letting them talk, and not making your situation seem just as bad as theirs. For example, if someone is talking about their crappy job, don't start talking about yours. Give them the time of day to be sympathetic for them, because everyone is fighting their own battle. The listening part, we listen at 500 words per minute. And sometimes people need someone to just listen. Don't take away their time by talking over them. Give them the time of day and just simply, listen.

  2. I liked learning about the different ways of talking to someone else. The listening part is spot on. Don't talk about your experiences being the same. Even if the is similar, the way people handle or take that event is different so you can't know how people feel but you can relate. Also keep the conversations short while covering the topic. This is something we should teach more in school because there are elementary kids with cell phones and they are going to grow up on texting which is just baffling to me.

  3. I like the part about listening, You need to listen to others, I mean really listen to others to really understand them. People may say something and you don't get it and you move on with your day. But sometimes those things people say can really get to you at the end of the day. Some people are having hard times and really just need people to listen to them and let them know that they are there. It may seem small just sitting down and listening to a story but in the end it will really help them. You don't have to always think they are trying to make you feel bad for them, they just need someone to vent to. Some to really listen

  4. I like how she said to go in to every conversation like your going to learn something. I also like how she said got with the flow and to just let things go out because sometimes you stop listening when you have a good question. I like how she said it is not about you because it is not. Its not all about you. Also the don't repeat yourself. It is interesting how she said forget the details. But over all the listening part was really important.
