To This Day

I stumbled upon this poem (scroll down a bit and watch the video) the other day listening to a TED Talk.  The honesty and emotion expressed by the author are truly moving.  For me, the best part was the ending. Sharing a message of hope is so crucial to the fight against bullying.  It is so important for those who are feeling bullied or overwhelmed to know that it gets better.  This is one more example of that.

  1. I honestly don't know what to say the poem is very touching and true in so many way and so is the video i like the poem. But its true bullying is so bad no one respects anyone now days and its sad. The posters in the hall stand for the silent is like this kids get to the way they don't want to talk and they kill themselves and we are losing to many because of bullying it needs to stop.

  2. I really liked the poem. It seems to have a much greater impact on you because of how it is spoken and that it is about a real person but also talks about many more people who feel this way. It is a very strong poem that keeps your attention and grips you as you listen to it. Very inspiring.

  3. This poen is very touching. It really makes me stop and think about how we treat other people around us. it makes me wonder if i ever make anyone feel bad, and i don't realize it because if I do, i would stop. i know what it's like to be called names and get put down, it's not fun. and i know everyone does it, even if you are the bullied. very inspiring, and i love how he used many examples, and the graphics. it was a great video.

  4. This poem is very touching and very true. It makes you wonder how can bullies say things to people that makes them feel bad and hurt. And if they do know that it hurts and makes people feel bad then why would they still do that? And for those people who watch bullying happen why would they just stand and watch? I like this video a lot. Everyone has flaws in their life so why make someone feel bad about their little flaws when you have your own flaws also? Or when people talk about someone behind their back. What you said goes around and it gets said to that person you were talking about and that hurts peoples feelings a lot.

  5. The poem reminds me of stand for the silent and it makes me think about Ty Smalley. He was only ten years old and he killed himself because he was bullied. It really makes you think about the things you do and how they affect other people. Because you may just be joking around, but its still not right and it could end badly, like it did for Ty Smalley. I think more people should think about the golden rule before deciding to do something, treat others how you want to be treated.
